CMP's NECEC Corridor is a terrible idea. It will destroy pristine wilderness to create a profit-machine for multinational corporations. The people of Maine need to let our public officials know that we do not want this corridor in our state.

Sign below to join our coalition to Stop the Corridor!

We the people of Maine value our natural resources and our way of life. Central Maine Power and their foreign parent company have proposed a massive destructive pathway through our woods in order to bring high-voltage transmission lines to Massachusetts. Central Maine Power has shown itself as untrustworthy and not up to the task of such a large and potentially damaging project, and we hereby call on CMP, the state of Massachusetts, and Maine's regulators and elected officials to put an end to this project immediately.

Dear CMP, please maintain the crap ass lines you already have. You clearly are not capable of serving your existing customers. We are faced with more than 20 power losses every winter, some taking days and days even up to a week to restore power IN THE WINTER. I drive a round the state quite a bit and see the way you DON’T maintain the line all over the place. My husband and I even came up a great road trip game for the kids. Point out trees that are already entangled in your lines that are likely to cause a power outage once there is any type of snow. There are so many opportunities to score points. It is like shooting fish in a barrel. Keep your greedy Iberdrola hands off the Maine woods you rotten assholes.

This energy isn’t even needed. Read on. A mix of clean, sustainable energy is absolutely the way to go, but not on massive scales that deteriorate, pollute or destroy our environment in order to to good elsewhere. Maine is a last frontier in the USA that cannot be compromised. While we must address the climate crisis immediately, there are plenty of ways to do so without demolishing large swaths of Maine that harm the environment, wildlife, tourism and our own local and future economies. It isn’t fair, wise or economically productive to pit one against the other. Further, if Massachusetts (or all people, for that matter) simply implemented conservation programs (reduce, then reuse) they would need approximately ZERO of this energy. Presently, we completely waste about half of all energy produced, trashing our planet in the process. First, reduce. Then, reuse. Then, last, use a mix of local, sustainable, clean energy sources. That is how we survive as a species. That is what we must insist upon of Massachusetts. That is what we, too, must do.

I am about to purchase a property and move to Maine in the Spring. If this monstrosity is built, I may reconsider moving to Maine. The CMP project is bad for Maine in every way. Maine will reap no benefit from the project, only liability. Stop the corridor.

I have been against the Corridor ever since it was first introduced and I don’t think it’s a good deal from Maine I think it’s horrible for Maine and I think it’s out of staters is trying to take advantage of us again and I’m wondering if New Hampshire is on board with this

One of the current governor’s campaign promises was to NOT build this corridor. She has no right to do this against the will of the VAST majority of the citizens of Maine.
